Youth Substance Abuse Safety Program

In July 2000 a new law went into effect that allowed police officers to give a civil ticket for 16-20 year olds who were consuming or possessing alcohol.

Court Diversion Programs were designated to establish and administer the Teen Alcohol Safety Program (TASP) in each county.

Beggining July 1, 2013 16-20 Year olds who are in possesion of less than one Ounce of Marijuana are also issued a civil citation.

As of July 1st 2013, The Youth Substance Abuse Safety Program (YSASP) was established. This program replaces the former TASP program and covers both underage drinking tickets as well as civil Marijuana tickets issued to individuals between the ages of 16 and 20

The following is an overview of requirements for participants in the Chittenden County Youth Substance Abuse Safety Program. Each individual in the program must complete the requirements of his/her contract within sixty days. The sixty days starts when our office receives the ticket. Your deadline date will be on the paperwork we send you.
